Frequently asked questions

From what age can children do modern dance at GiZeta?

+
The modern dance course is for children and teens aged 6 to 12. At the Sagnino and Uggiate con Ronago studios the age groups are split so that classes work with children of similar ability and pace. This means younger and older dancers each follow a programme suited to them, and everyone progresses comfortably within their own group.

Do they need to have done pre-dance first?

+
No, it isn't required: children can start modern dance as their very first course. Those coming from pre-dance will already be familiar with rhythm and coordination, but the teacher brings everyone to the same point. Beginners settle in quickly, so there's no need to worry if your child has never taken a dance class before.

What's the difference between modern dance and hip-hop?

+
Modern dance works on fluidity, expressiveness and body technique, while hip-hop has a more rhythmic, urban and energetic language. At GiZeta you'll find both, and many youngsters take them together. Combining the two gives children a broad grounding: the control and musicality of modern dance alongside the drive and attitude of hip-hop.

Is there an end-of-year show?

+
Yes. At the end of the season the classes prepare a choreography to perform for the end-of-year show. It's an important milestone for the youngsters and a moment families look forward to. Rehearsing towards a real performance gives the children a goal, builds their confidence and turns a year of lessons into something they can proudly share.

Do they need a medical certificate?

+
Yes. From the age of 6 upwards a non-competitive medical certificate is required, and you hand it in at the office when you sign up. It's a standard requirement for amateur sports activities in Italy and is renewed once a year. If you need any help with it, just ask us when you register.

How much does modern dance, ages 6–12 cost at GiZeta?

How does signing up for a course work?

+
You sign up for the course and start right away: choose the course, reserve your spot and at your first lesson you are already in. Message us on WhatsApp or fill in the contact form and we’ll tell you available spots, schedules and how to complete your registration.

What if I can no longer continue the course?

+
If during the season a significant issue means you can no longer continue, just talk to the office: together we’ll find the most suitable solution.

How do make-up lessons work?

+
