Do you need to know how to dance to do Balla in Forma?
+
No. The choreography of Balla in Forma is built on a few steps that repeat throughout the track: you learn them by following the instructor, with no theory. In the first few lessons you may fall out of time, and that is normal — after two or three sessions your body goes on its own. Nobody watches the others: everyone watches the instructor.
What is the difference between Balla in Forma and Zumba®?
+
They are two distinct classes. Balla in Forma is fitness set to music and suitable for everyone: simple choreography, an adjustable pace, designed also for those starting again from scratch or who prefer a more manageable intensity. Zumba®, by contrast, is more energetic Latin American fitness, with Latin-inspired rhythms and steps. Balla in Forma is held in Uggiate con Ronago; Zumba® in Sagnino and Uggiate con Ronago: choose the one that makes you most want to move.
Does Balla in Forma help you lose weight?
+
Balla in Forma is a cardio workout of variable intensity: it raises your heart rate and keeps your body moving for the whole lesson, so it burns calories as much as, or more than, other aerobic activities. On its own it is not enough: results come from combining consistency (twice a week) with a balanced diet.
What is the difference between Balla in Forma and toning?
+
Balla in Forma is an aerobic activity set to music: it works mainly on stamina, coordination and energy expenditure. Toning (Total Body, G.A.G.), on the other hand, focuses on targeted muscle strengthening, with bodyweight exercises or small equipment. Those who want both often alternate them in the same week.
Do you need a medical certificate for Balla in Forma?
+
Yes: for all members aged 6 and over a non-competitive medical certificate is required. As this is an aerobic activity that raises your heart rate, it is a safeguard for you as well as an obligation. You hand it in at the front desk when you sign up or during the first lessons.
What do you need to bring to a Balla in Forma class?
+
Clean trainers with a sole that does not grip too much on the parquet (running shoes with aggressive tread make turns difficult), comfortable clothing, a towel and a bottle of water: you sweat more than you would expect.
