Frequently asked questions
What is Pilates for and who can do it?
+
Pilates strengthens the deep core muscles (abdomen, glutes, lower back) and improves posture, balance and flexibility through low-impact exercises. It suits all ages, including older adults and anyone recovering from an injury or dealing with lower-back instability and postural problems. The courses run by level, so you can always progress safely and at your own pace.
Pilates or yoga for back pain?
+
It depends: Pilates strengthens and stabilises, making it ideal for muscle weakness and lower-back instability, while yoga lengthens and relaxes, better suited when pain comes from tension or stress. Many experts suggest combining the two. At GiZeta you'll find Pilates classes by level in the studios of Grandola, Como and Uggiate con Ronago.
Is Pilates suitable for beginners and the over-60s?
+
Yes. Pilates uses gentle, low-impact exercises that can be adapted to every level, including complete beginners and the over-60s. The courses are organised by level, so you progress safely and at a pace that respects your own body. If you're returning after a break or an injury, the instructor adjusts each movement for you.
Where is the course held? Is Uggiate con Ronago the former Uggiate-Trevano?
+
The course is held in the studios of Grandola ed Uniti, Uggiate con Ronago and Sagnino (Como). And yes: Uggiate con Ronago is the municipality created by merging Uggiate-Trevano with Ronago, so if you were looking for the Uggiate-Trevano gym, you're in the right place — the venue at Via Torildo Conconi 2/A is exactly the same.
How much does pilates cost at GiZeta?
+
Pilates: 10 € per lesson, 12 € at Uggiate con Ronago. On top there is the annual membership fee of 20 €, valid for the whole sports season (1 September – 31 August): it does not include the courses, which are paid per lesson. In Uggiate con Ronago, Pilates costs 12 € per lesson. You’ll find the full price list, the calculation formula and the family discount on the Prices page.
How does signing up for a course work?
+
You sign up for the course and start right away: choose the course, reserve your spot and at your first lesson you are already in. Message us on WhatsApp or fill in the contact form and we’ll tell you available spots, schedules and how to complete your registration.
What if I can no longer continue the course?
+
If during the season a significant issue means you can no longer continue, just talk to the office: together we’ll find the most suitable solution.
Do I need a medical certificate?
+
Yes: everyone enrolled aged 6 and over needs a non-competitive medical certificate. Under the age of 6 it is not required.
How do make-up lessons work?
+
At the Grandola pool you have 3 make-up lessons, still valid in the next cycle too — even if in the meantime you are no longer enrolled.
